The Empty Bowl is a new improvisation group born in March 2021 that intersects the artistic ways of four musicians in the roman scene: the pianist and performer Arianna Granieri, the vocal performer and writer Virginia Guidi, the composer Simone Pappalardo (specialized in audio physical computings and audio installations) and the composer Federico Placidi (analog synthesist).

The name of the project reassumes the aesthetics of the ensemble that unfolds in the sentence by Lao Tzu: "A bowl is most useful when it is empty". Only the right mental predisposition - the empty of mind - is able to catch the extemporaneous gift of the improvisation and the musical gesture.
